The volume offers a list of all publications of the honoured until 1993 and of all theses completed under his guidance. It contains 44 contributions which span an area from the Iberian Peninsula to Egypt and from Greece to northern Germany. They cover a time range between the Neolithic and early modern times. The majority of the articles deal with matters of the Metal Ages. The authors discuss various types of finds such as weapons [gold grip swords, pieces of Hellenistic catapults, spear points, bronze swords, sword scabbards, weapons made of organic material, mitrae], pieces of period costume [different types of fibulae, belt buckles, glass bracelets and beads, textiles, antler pins] and other types of small finds [clay figurines, seals, gold foil crosses, pottery, metal vessels, fire dogs]. Besides, burials of different periods are discussed, also matters of settlement history [in Slovenia and at Homberg, Alteburg, Altenburg, Sticna], questions of settlement archaeology [rectangular enclosures, water supply, economy, continuity] and theory [language, trade, crafts, social structure, history of research].
